LACY CLARK

Owner and CEO

How did I get started? I have been athletic my entire life, but it wasn't until after I had my first son that I realized I was going to have to work a lot harder to stay fit. I had taken Yoga in college and thought that would be a great place to start.  So little by little I increased my routine and dropped ALL my baby weight in 17 weeks. 50 lbs-Bam!  Gone! Hey, that wasn't so hard. Psh. (Read on) Then in 2010 my second son came along. I soon realized this time around was going to be no walk in the park. This is when I began my real fitness journey. I weighed 205 lbs at the end of 2010, then I lost maybe 24 lbs after leaving the hospital and maintained that miserable weight through December 2012. That was when I had my ah-ha moment.  The moment when I was taking my sons to the park on a bright beautifully sunny day and I caught myself looking around, noticing that 90% of all the moms were sitting down on benches, picnic tables, etc.  I was sad, mad, and disappointed. I knew I was one of those moms too. A lazy one that didn't 'feel' like chasing her kids around, or following them up the ladder, over the monkey bars or down the slide. Ah-ha.  Right then and there I quit. I'm a stubborn go getter so this is just like me to do.
The hard work: I woke up the next morning and told myself that I could put my two year old into the gym day care just for a couple hours each morning to gain my life back, my sanity and also to give him some socialization.  See I stayed home with both my kids and even if I worked here and there they went with me, so being on mommy 24/7 was normal.  It was time for a little tweaking for everyone.  My oldest was in part-time preschool, so I dropped him off, flew to the gym, gave my youngest some new friends to play with and headed up the stairs. Where to begin? What to do? Who will laugh at me? How much will I jiggle? What machine can I screw up first? All good questions I thought...and only one way to find out the answers. The first couple weeks were a blur, but when I came home one night after four weeks of sticking to this new 'hobby' I undressed for the shower and as I passed our full length mirrors I was surprised by what I saw.
The reward: It was me! I HAD been in there the whole time! Just drowned in fat and low self esteem. I was so proud I cant tell you. Everyone was right: You eat less to become thin, you work out to look good naked, and I did! After a mildly embarrassing happy dance, I sprang in the shower, washed off the old me and stepped out a new person. I was the mom I always dreamed about. One young enough to do anything these two little boys could throw at me! "My sons will not have a boring old lazy mom!" I exclaimed.  After discovering clean eating mixed with the right fitness and weight training I transformed to 133 lbs with less than 14 % body fat by March 2013. I could finally do it! I was in control! It was a huge mountain with a 3-10 lb fluctuating weight gain, I thought I was going to go insane, but then I learned a different way of life. A disciplined one. A happy one. A confident one. And one that rubbed off on my family. I loved it! I ate healthy and was more active than ever, which in-turn meant my family was more active and healthy too! Now I am 5 months post-partum with my third son, close to my comfort weight and going down in body fat percentage every day. Never giving up. Not one me, not on my clients.

Helping others: This way of pure happiness inspired me to learn more, to get trained and to help others. I was at my local gym one day, when I saw a new mother squatting it up...all wrong. I thought to myself you can talk to her, and risk sounding bossy, or you can let her squat and wake up tomorrow morning with a bad back, sore knees and no results. So, in my normal fashion, I open my big mouth. After introducing myself I began to realize she was me. She was the me from four years ago. She was uncomfortable, embarrassed and not a clue what she was doing. We exchanged numbers and a week or so later, she became my very first client. Ah-ha. From here the rest is history. I went back to school and took countless sports management and fitness courses. In 2011 I joined NASM for my FNS cert, started my own company, wrote my first cook book in 2015, had hundreds of male and female clients over the years and started meal prepping as a personal chef in Hamilton County in 2014.

Why we do things the way we do: It isn't always about how much you weigh. I teach my clients to set a reasonable goal that is healthy for their height, weight and age, while focusing on what THEY want to look like. What brings out their confidence! Not what Hollywood or any other fashion magazine says. Let's face it, 60% of my clientele are mothers and motherhood is not always pretty. Sometime you have to finish your lat pulls while the peas burn and the dog eats a paci. It's life and it's your job to make yours a good one.
For those of you who are wondering and will probably ask :)
No, I am not 'naturally thin' or petite. I'm not small boned. I am 5"7. Yes, I did eat pretty much whatever I wanted, through all three pregnancies. "But I gained a lot!" So did I. 50 lbs with my first, 60 lbs with my second and 40 lbs with my third. That's right! 150 lbs (aka a person) between all three kids. And yes, I lost it all, and then some. "But you're depriving yourself." Not once. No I have never dieted, or taken 'magical' weight loss pills or eat from frozen boxes filled with preservatives while expecting to drop 10 pants sizes. "But you don't have any health issues" I am actually hypoglycemic and fight my own cravings everyday. And once again for the outfield- I did do every bit of my transformation (inside and out) while running a household, a business, being a mommy to three wonderful boys, taking care of a man and all the formalities of social events, sports, trips and events. Case in point- if I can do it-,so can you! Here's to ya ladies of the world!

If you'd like to know more about me, just ask! I'm an open book.
